where do i begin...

So much has happened since February 25th, I'm not sure where I begin. Not that my life is very interesting, but as time passes, things change. This semester was a challenge because I kept busy with teaching and research. At least from all that business I'm on to a new and exciting study. I will share details later.

Hair Update (Sorry, I've not taken any pics of myself lately). I finally broke down and went to a consultant and if you kept up with Brunsli's blog, you know how that turned out. No hard feelings, as I am back to doing it myself. I couldn't help but glance at 2 blogs that posted about "hair zillas" which made me question if I am that person. I then decided: maybe I am. Oh well if I am. I figure, there is little in life that I am persnickety about, one thing can be my hair. So to alleviate much crap, I will do it myself. So far so good, but as my time become engulfed with the rigors of work and school activities, I think I will turn to someone...soon. I will update you on that when (or if) it happens.

Lately I've been having these feelings o
f wanting to cut my hair. I think back to the times when my roller sets had extreme body and long for those styles. My hair still can get body, but it is not nearly as bouncy as it was. So I am in a med length funk right now. I think I will try to reclaim my bangs and see where we go from there.

Life & Love.
Sogent & I moved!!!! After 3 yrs, we moved into a place we both love. I suspect that Stormy & Nina like it but adjustment was in order for them both. Nina's behavior issues only got worse, until we moved her into the back porch. She is so much better behaved and we are so relieved that she has her own pad. It has been raining every single week since May, so our plans to eventually move her outdoors have been canceled. I just can't bare the thought of her outside. So I am so thankful that her porch spot is working out nicely.

Our biggest accomplishment yet: we started a garden!!! Before we even moved into the house, we did some serious yard work. I'm talking tilling the soil, laying down grass, testing soil pH, conditioning soil, planting seedlings, making a fence, etc. We went to work and it is paying off. Because of the hot
weather and the constant rain, our plants have grown faster than the weeds. It is all organic (no pesticides). I go in and dig up every single weed by hand. I absolutely love it. We have every vegetable and fruit from eggplant to several varieties of watermelon. So, late July-August should be a great time. Our corn is by far our pride and joy. Two storms have knocked 2 on their sides and without ANY intervention from us, they picked themselves back up within 3 days! It was AMAZING. Their will to live was something out of a sci fi movie. Okay you can tell I am a first time gardener. The only thing that is really annoying about gardening so far is that some people I speak to about my garden (which is anyone who is willing to listen at this point) make the assumption that I am following in Michelle Obama's footsteps. While I've got great respect and admiration for our first lady, having my own garden was something I've ALWAYS wanted since I was a little girl dreaming about my house, husband, and kids. Besides we only looked at homes with yards that would be conducive to a sizable garden. So while the parallel is flattering, I just gotta say that it wasn't her that influenced me. Let's try my living in the South and the agriculturally minded folks that raised me. It is not some fly-by-night trend or hobby for me-it's a symbol of independence and freedom. But above all, I just freakin love it.

That's about all for now. More to share, more posts to come.
