There is so much that I want to write about but after viewing E.BADU's Window Seat video AND Matt & Kim's Lessons Learned Video.... I feel so refreshed! Finally a video worth seeing and posting about...sorry Nicky Manaj et al. Gutsy...Artsy...Bold...I love both of them!
One more thing...Was I the only one that noticed that Erykah kept on her hair cap? Stripped of everything except her hair cap and rings. I'm not trying to be critical of the video, but I wonder if that was deliberate? I would love to hear if those things were left on on purpose or not. How much more interesting it would have been if her other crowning glory (the one on top of her head) was unveiled/released/exposed! I know the video supersedes race/ethnicity, but as a Black woman, full exposure would logically include presentation of the infinity/DNA-modeled coils. Just a thought and my little humble opinion.

I think she left her cap on so that she could quickly put the beaded wig on at the very end of the video. I was wondering the same thing to. The video was shot in only one take and w/o permits soooo, I think that's why she left it on. But, I agree, seeing the crown would've been nice.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I hadn't thought of that-makes sense though. But even still, was the wig supposed to be the height of her eveolution? Don't get me wrong, I think the breaded braids are really fly (kimmet-esque, if you will) but it would have been really great to see her true hair- that would have been worth a cut in the shot. Again, IMHO.
Wow! I did a really lengthy post on the video, which I love. I think the cap was left on to make the video be about freedom. I think if her hair showed then ppl would have focused on that.
